Premium List: A booklet that contains all the necessary information needed to enter an Event. It contains a list of Officers of the Club, the members of the Event Committee, the names and addresses of the judges, together with their assignments. It gives the name and address of the Superintendent or Secretary, to whom entries must be submitted. It gives the date and location of the Event together with a listing of Prizes and Trophies that are offered. The closing date for receipt of Entries is included. There also may be general information for exhibitors contained in the Premium List.
Judging Schedule: A booklet published and sent to all entrants in an Event after the closing of Entries (about a week prior to the Event). It shows the time scheduled for the start of judging of each breed and the breakdown of entries by breed. It lists any substitute or replacement judges, if any. It also generally gives information of interest to exhibitors, such as motels, directions to the show, and other notices for exhibitors
Entering an AKC Event
AKC Events are sponsored by AKC member or licensed clubs. The show giving club engages the services of a Superintendent or Secretary to administer the show. The Superintendent or Secretary prepares and distributes the Premium List for the event. Entries for the event are made through the Superintendent or Secretary prior to the closing date for those entries. Once entries close and all data has been assembled, the Superintendent or Secretary prepares and distributes the Judging Schedule.

Information on upcoming events is available in a variety of locations. Events are listed in the EVENTS section of The AKC Gazette, published monthly. While this listing is generally comprehensive, it is prepared about 3 months prior to publication, and may not reflect recent changes in panels or information. Perhaps the most comprehensive listing is on the InfoDog web site - www.infodog.com. This site is published by one of the major Superintendents (MB-F, Inc), and contains complete information on events superintended by that organization, but may also include references to other events. Other Superintendents offer more complete information on events that they superintend. See links below.

Most larger events are administered by annually Licensed professional Superintendents, while smaller events usually engage the services of an Event Secretary. A list of annually Licensed professional Superintendents and links to their sites is included HERE.

To enter an event, the participant must fill out the appropriate Entry Form and submit it to the Superintendent or Secretary prior to the closing of entries. A sample blank entry form and instructions on filling it out are HERE. Make sure to take note of the event closing date. It is usually 2-1/2 weeks prior to the event. Your entry must arrive at the Superintendent or Secretary by that date.
